April 17, 2018: Invitation to Forums on Campus Child Care

Dear Faculty, Staff, and Students,

I invite you to attend an upcoming forum about child care options for the Twin Cities campus community. Two forums are planned in the next two weeks: Thursday, April 26, 3-4 pm, 335 Borlaug Hall (St. Paul campus); and Thursday, May 3, 11 am-12 noon, Weisman Art Museum/William G. Shepherd Room (Minneapolis campus).

The forums will be structured as listening sessions and will help inform the work of the Provost's Child Care Advisory Committee. This committee is charged with examining cost-effective options for the provision of high-quality childcare for the children of faculty, staff, and students. The operating expectation is that these options would build on and expand childcare services currently provided by CEHD's Child Development Center, which is scheduled to close at some point in the future as a result of capital and academic planning for the Institute for Child Development.

Your perspectives will be helpful to the committee as it develops a set of values and goals and recommends criteria that should be included in specifications for any RFP the University might issue to private or nonprofit child care services providers or potential partners. If you are unable to attend a forum but wish to share your thoughts with the advisory committee, please know that comments will continue to be accepted on the committee website.
