Update: Canvas back online for University users
Students, faculty and staff,
We want to provide an update regarding the ongoing Canvas disruption affecting the University and educational institutions nationwide.
Instructure relaunched Canvas late last night. The University’s Office of Information Technology has conducted security and operational reviews to restore local access with a focus on reengaging the platform for our campuses safely, securely and reliably.
We recognize this is a particularly demanding point in the semester, with so many managing final assignments, exams, grading responsibilities and student concerns. We appreciate the care and cooperation you are demonstrating under difficult circumstances.
Students should continue following the guidance provided directly by their instructors and academic programs. For example, if an instructor already communicated alternative plans for an exam, assignment or class activity, those plans should remain in effect unless the instructor provides updated direction. As a reminder, Boynton’s Urgent Mental Health clinic is available to help connect students experiencing significant stress related to this disruption to mental health support and resources. Reach their team at 612-624-1444.
Faculty and instructors across the University are continuing to work closely with students to support academic continuity and reduce unnecessary disruption wherever possible. Students should continue monitoring their University email regularly, as Canvas notifications and course communications come back online.
Thank you again for your flexibility and continued support of your peers and colleagues as our teams worked to restore services while prioritizing security and data integrity.
Sincerely,
Gretchen Ritter
Executive Vice President and Provost
